Members of the theatre “Gesture” are the students from the special schools for hearing-impaired children and the school for the disabled “Tsvetik-Semitsvetik”.

For the last 5 years the theatre became a group of not only the hearing-impaired and went beyond the frameworks of one genre.  The group is unique because it unites hearing-impaired people of all ages and disabled people with orthopedic disorders in joint constructive process. The “Gesture” theatre is gradually turning into an aesthetic centre and an experimental stage.  Among the developed programs are “Hope” – dances in wheelchairs, “Blue Dirigible” – with the participation of hearing-impaired children and children with orthopedic disorders, “Skylark” – the play by Zh. Anuy adapted for the stage with the participation of all members of the group, and a number of concerts as well.

In recent years healthy children and adults are involved into the group’s activity alongside with the disabled, thus “Gesture” favors the rehabilitation process and social adaptation of disabled people by means of art, reveals new talents and attracts attention of the public to the disabled issue .

In the theatre members practice dancing, stage speech, acting technique, so not only drama but also concert performances – dances, songs, and pantomime - are prepared.

Members of “Gesture” took park in many festivals and won various awards. It is a laureate of International Festival “Protheater”  (Moscow 2004, 2007), International Festival “Temp” (Minsk, Belarus), Festival  “Sounds and Colors of the World” (St.Petersburg, 2005), the festival  was put in the list of the official delegation on holding Days of Velikiy Novgorod Culture in twin-city Bielefeld (Germany), where it gave concerts.
