Church of the Nativity of Our Savoir at Red Field (1381-1382)

The monastic church of the construction typical in the 14th c. The original look of the church and unique frescos of the 14th c. have been preserved till these days. The frescos are believed to be painted by Balkan artists. The church outline is terse enough and the building is a bit squad. The total cubic content is still proportional enough.

Lyubov P. Rachmaninova (1849 - 1929), the mother of the Russian outstanding composer Sergey V. Rachmaninov along with some other famous people was buried in the churchyard. Novgorod Land has always been considered to be the composer’s homeland and the well-know bell ringing of St. Sophia’s Belfry have echoed in his music.

Hours: 10am – 3pm daily except Thursday, Friday, the last Monday of every month (April 1 – September 30); 10am – 1pm daily except Saturday, Sunday and the last Monday of every month (October 1 – March 31).
