The Church Of St George In The Marketplace, 1356, 18th c.

This church was built in 1356 replacing a wooden church with the same name. The lower walls date back to the 14th century. In the late 17th century, the upper part was rebuilt in the style of Naryshkin Baroque, which had become popular by that time. The church houses an exhibition of photographs Novgorodian views from the late 19th-early 20th centuries: "Strolls around the AncientCity". Here visitors can take an authentic photo against a background of the AncientCity dressed in old style hats, boas, and other accessories provided by museum attendants.  Hours:  10a.m. - 6p.m. daily, except Wednesdays, Thursdays and the first Monday of every month (April 1 – September 30); 10a.m. - 4p.m. on weekdays and 11a.m. - 6p.m. on weekends (October 1– March 31). Location: Yaroslav’s Courtyard.
